When the Nissan Pathfinder first appeared in the mid-1980s it was a 2-door compact SUV.

The second-generation Pathfinder launched a decade later, became a medium-sized 5-door SUV.

Fast forward 30 years and the Nissan Pathfinder has evolved into a full-size 7-passenger SUV with classic SUV capabilities and efficiency.

Now it has an all-new look, featuring a sleeker, more premium exterior with bold graphics and a roomier interior featuring a standard 3rd-row seat.

The Pathfinder has always been built on Nissan's F platform, along with the Nissan Xterra (an SUV first launched in 1999), merging both the truck and station wagon platforms into one vehicle.

It gained popularity after the introduction of the fourth-generation model, which now includes 2-row and 3-row seating configurations as well as a 5-door setup for model years 2010–present.

This Pathfinder SUV became the template from which every other SUV on the road today was built off of and this year it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

It was the first of its kind to offer 3 rows of seating for up to 7 passengers in a single-vehicle, along with the only available V6 engine of its time.
