Based on the world's best-selling car the Toyota Camry, the Lexus ES is the luxury offering of the sedan.
Beginning production in 1989 the first-generation model featured just one choice of engine, a 2.5 litre V6 mated to either a 4-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
Its always been a front-engine front-wheel-drive car available with 4-doors and only as a sedan layout.
Original production took place in Japan but over the years plants have opened in China, India and North America to cope with demand.
With the introduction of the second-generation in 1991, the engine choice was expanded to include a 3 litre V6 and multiple new features to keep up with its biggest competition the Honda Legend.
Further enhancements were made to the ES as it evolved through the years the range of engines wasn't really expanded but was tweaked slightly.
The most recent version (the seventh-generation) does have a wider range of engine choices from a modest 2 litre offering through to a more luxury 3.5 litre V6.
Inside the car is a fleet of comfort features including a built-in infotainment system on the dashboard and blind-spot monitoring.
Also, the latest version of the Lexus ES is based on the Avalon platform rather than the Camry that was used in previous versions.
